BAND OF CLIMBERS

UK'S TOUGHEST GROUP RIDES - THE DALES

SUPPORTED BY

FREE GROUP RIDE

Join Band of Climbers for the 2nd in our series of 'The UK's Toughest Group Rides'. For this ride, we've teamed up with lover of steep climbs Katie Kookaburra, who has amassed almost 80,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel, where she shares her passion for riding high. Katie has not only planned the route, but she'll be riding it with us too.

This 'Heart of the Dales' ride will start and finish in the beautiful village of Hawes, which is one of the highest villages in the UK. The route will pack in 6 climbs into 100km, including Fleet Moss, Park Rash, The Fleak and Buttertubs Pass.

WHERE AND WHEN

NO DROP RIDE

This is a 100km (62 miles) group ride, which will be ridden at a relaxed pace. This is not a race, and this will be a no drop ride. There is over 2400m of elevation. (8000ft) with 6 big climbs en route, including Park Rash, The Fleak and Buttertubs Pass.

THE START

The Dales group ride will take place on Saturday 12th June. The ride will start at 9am, with small gaps to break the group into smaller numbers due to Covid. Please aim to arrive at the start location no later than 08.45am, for a 9am roll out. Once you have signed up, the route will be be emailed to you a week before the event.

SELF SUPPORTED

As this is a free group ride on open roads, there is no mechanical support on the course, and the route is not marked. There will be several Band of Climbers ride leaders on course to make sure the group completes the ride, and we will send the STRAVA Route 1 week before the ride to download onto your GPS computers.

You will need to bring your own tools, tubes and any spares in the event of a mechanical issue. Due to the severity of the gradients on the climbs and descents, we strongly suggest ensuring your brake pads and chain are in a good condition. Your bike and legs will be tested to the limit on this ride.
