The Tour de Stations is part of the Marmotte Gran Fondo Series, and 2020 will be the 3rd edition of the event which takes place in the beautiful Valais region of Switzerland. Alberto Contador raced the 2019 edition, finishing in 8th place with a time of just over 8 hours.
Band of Climbers will be a Gran Partner to the event in 2020. As part of our involvement, all 3000 riders will receive a unique BoC Frame Sticker complete with all the climbs they will face en route, as well as a BoC print to commemorate their participation. Band of Climbers will also produce a limited edition run of BoC / Tour de Stations Sweatshirts to be worn by the race organisers on the day.
After two successful editions, the Tour des Stations has redesigned its routes in the form of a loop to facilitate the organization of the participants.
The event has over 5 route options, ranging from the UltraFondo with over 8200m of elevation, through to a 40km 1850m E-Fondo suitable for riders on MTB or Gravel bikes with or without motors.
For the 2020 edition all departures will leave Le Châble, with the finishes being in Verbier. This new route will have the advantage of simplifying logistics of the riders with a unique place for all start and finish areas separated by a distance of just 8km.
The five routes proposed will take the Col du Lein (1685m) and the now legendary Col de la Croix-de-Coeur (2175m). Depending on the distance chosen (240km, 210km, 145km, 85km or 40km), three to twelve stations will be crossed and an elevation difference ranging from 1850m to 8200m will be faced.
As part of our involvement, Band of Climbers will be fielding a squad of riders to take on the UltraFondo, all 240km of it. In the next few weeks you can learn more about how you can win a place to ride it with us, so watch this space. We expect suffering, we expect pain, we expect to have a lot of fun, Together We Climb.
